Guggenheim Museum that presents digitized highlights from the personal libraries of Juliana Force and Hilla Rebay, the museums' respective inaugural directors. The Freer Gallery presented an exhibition of 36 objects, including a bell, drum, chime and zithers, as well as scrolls and painted porcelains that date from the fifth century B. To achieve this we are bringing together works from different parts of our collection, often combining paintings, sculptures, photography, prints and drawings, and objects.

These selections from the Barnet and Burto collection were complemented by related works from the collections of the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Special thanks to Deputy Vice Chancellor Judson Newbern, horticulturalist Laura Barker and crew. Nevertheless, access to the collections was poor until the 1851 Project started because the entries in the Library's older manual Catalogues are general and sometimes incomplete.
